Knapp’s Gravenhurst Furniture is celebrating its 60th year in business. Greg and Colleen Knapp purchased this family business in 1988 and would like to thank their past and present patrons. The family owned business has adapted to trends over the last 60 years, but have never deviated from furniture and appliances, or the importance of selling quality products.
The 10,000 sq. ft. building is home to more than 125 quality appliances at any given time including brand names such as KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Inglis and Amana. Whirlpool Canada is a leading manufacturer in home appliances, and Knapp’s has sold these products for decades. Whirlpool has consistantly won awards for it's leadership in manufacturing energy efficient appliances. Whirlpool is also a partner to Habitat for Humanity, they are longstanding donors of refrigerators and ranges to the newly built Habitat homes in Canada.
La-Z-Boy furniture also plays an important role in Knapp’s Gravenhurst Furniture's ongoing success story. It is one of the most recognized and trusted brands in the furniture industry. Knapp’s regularly houses more than 100 genuine La-Z-Boy rocker recliners, stationary chairs as well as stationary and reclining sofas. Gravenhurst Furniture has a passion for quality, comfort and reliability when it comes to furniture, and because of this La-Z-Boy has been featured here for more than 25 years.
Gravenhurst Furnituire recognizes the importance of carrying Canadian products whenever feasible. Simmons Canada has been its bedding supplier of choice for the last 20 years. Simmons Canada originated in 1891 and have been manufacturing top-quality beds ever since. Simmons introduced the Beautyrest bed, better known as "the bowling ball bed" in 1923. Simmons also introduced the pocket coil in 1986, the Non-Flip technology in 2000 and the Non Flip Pocket Coil in 2005 just to name a few. Today, Gravenhurst Furniture excels in bedding sales thanks to the ever so popular Beautyrest bed by Simmons.
Gravenhurst Furniture has been at the same location for the last 52 years. It sells quality products at reasonable prices, and the owners and staff take pride in their customer service. Customers often comment that they have enjoyed their experience in the store. Knapp’s is fortunate to have a history of many long-term employees. This makes for better service and a stable business. Their staff is a crucial part of the puzzle that makes for a successful business.
Greg and Colleen Knapp enjoy having 2nd and 3rd generation customers in the store and these same customers are pleased seeing their son Jeff selling and delivering in the summer when not in University. Knapp’s Gravenhurst Furniture is a fun place to shop and it's earned its reputation of being honest and reliable while always delivering a good quality product.

The picture above was taken in the early 1920's is the oldest known picture of Knapps building. Knapps building has the awnings. During this time period it was a furniture store and funeral home. The Model T belonged to the buildings owner (Cosby) at that time.
