Welcome to Nolan's Stained Glass
Dan Nolan is a stained glass artist from the Grey County area in Ontario Canada. His studio is located between Hanover and Neustadt on Grey Road 10.
Dan grew up in Bruce County, just west of Walkerton. He studied art at
the University of Waterloo, graduating with a BA in Fine Arts in 1979. In
1982, he began to work in stained glass. Working from a small basement studio, Dan attended many craft shows around Ontario.
He opened his first commercial studio in 1985, in Hanover Ontario. From this studio he could to sell his work, sell glass and supplies to local hobbyists, and continued to attend craft shows. Dan moved to his current location just south of Hanover in 1990.
Drawing inspiration from his local surroundings, Dan has produced a large body of work of stained glass windows, as well as many smaller works
that he sells in his studio.
Nolan’s Stained Glass has produced numerous commissions for clients,
around the province. Clients have input with the design process, choosing
themes and subject matter that reflect their individual tastes.
When a design has been created, the client then chooses the glass colour and type. Now the work begins creating the piece, and when completed, the work delivered and installed.
Dan has fused glass for years, creating bowls and plates as well as
other items, but jewelry is a new addition to his repertoire.
Dan finds the size allows him to create intimate works of art that
adorns any style of dress. These handcrafted items use special dichroic glass and papers and tools specifically designed to create the delicate images.
The images are applied to the black glass, the work is then covered with a
piece of clear fusible glass, fired, cooled and the stirling silver plated bale is attached to create light and fanciful works of art.
