About the PHJC Ministry Center

The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Ministry Center is an “Intergenerational Living and Learning Center.” Located seven miles west of Plymouth, the PHJC Ministry Center is truly a multi-generational educational campus, from college students to the residents of Maria Center and Catherine Kasper Home.

The PHJC Ministry Center is home for Ancilla Beef and Grain Farm, Ancilla College, Catherine Kasper Life Center, which includes Maria Center and Catherine Kasper Home, Earthworks, Lindenwood Retreat & Conference Center, MoonTree Community, PHJC Provincial offices and Poor Handmaid Sisters living in Catherine’s Cottage, Catherine Kasper Home and Convent Ancilla Domini.

The ministries located at the PHJC Ministry Center offer people a multitude of opportunities to expand their minds and nurture their spirits.  Residents of Maria Center and Catherine Kasper Home, co-workers and the public are given the opportunity to attend classes at Ancilla College, retreats at Lindenwood, and workshops/programs at Earthworks and MoonTree Community. At times, the ministries collaborate with each other to offer even more specialized learning experiences.

Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Sisters have taught in schools and orphanages in the U.S. since they first arrived from Germany in 1868 and they continue teaching today in traditional settings and in other ways.
