Hi there and welcome to our office’s website. I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I live in the Fraser Valley but grew up in Richmond back when it resembled the Fraser Valley. I attended the University of British Columbia and my interest in physiology and animals led me to the Department of Biology. There I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Biology. During my degree, my interest in clinical research was sparked and shortly thereafter, I enrolled in the Master of Science degree program in Pharmacology and Toxicology with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC. However, my love of understanding the complex mechanism that is the human body drew my interest to the health care field. I enrolled in the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC where I was awarded a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. I started out practicing in Abbotsford and in 2008 I purchased this dental practice from Dr. Hallinan.
My professional interests include all aspects of general dentistry including: pediatric dentistry and helping children out with their first dental check-ups; oral surgery and oral medicine; endodontics (root canals); restorative (fillings); and crown and bridge procedures. But my greatest interest is in our patients and I look forward to getting to know the “person behind the patient”. I firmly believe that addressing an individual’s needs with regard to their dental health is very important in providing the ideal dental treatment for each person.
Outside of dentistry I remain active by spending time with my two daughters and answering their endless questions about the world around us, getting fit at the gym, and screaming myself hoarse cheering for the Canucks, Chilliwack Bruins, Abbotsford Heat, and BC Lions.
It's been nearly 30 years since I came to our wonderful community. As the first female dentist, I attracted many dentally-anxious patients, reinforcing my belief that dentistry must be performed in the kindest manner possible. I continue to focus on gentle delivery of restorative and crown and bridge treatment.
I grew up in a variety of communities in the United States. Coming from a family of educators, I earned a degree in elementary and special education. I obtained my dental degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Other than taking care of my husband and 2 daughters, I enjoy the outdoors and physical fitness. I hike, backpack, snowshoe, kayak, garden, and attend many fitness classes. I believe firmly in our stewardship of the earth and all its creatures...except sugar bugs.
I was born in Richmond and lived there for most of my life… it’s been a good change to move out to Chilliwack. I attended the University of British Columbia, where I was awarded an undergraduate degree in Cell Biology and Genetics (BSc). From there, I pursued studies in the Faculty of Dentistry and received a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
I enjoyed dental school and my passion for dentistry was reflected in the receipt of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics Award for outstanding clinical proficiency in crown and bridgework. I believe having an improved smile can build confidence and am interested in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Outside the office, I enjoy working out at a gym, sculpting, singing, and traveling. A self-proclaimed foodie, I love to try all kinds of cuisines and experiment with recipes, while taking photographs of my dining excursions.
