If needed, you may use these over the counter medications. However, we advise you to avoid taking any unnecessary medications during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. If you have questions or concerns, please call our office.
PAIN MEDICATIONS:
Acetaminophen (Tylenol or other)
Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) NOT after 24 weeks
AVOID Aspirin (and other Acetylsalicylics)
ANTHISTAMINES: Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
YEAST INFECTIONS: Chlorthrimazole (Monistat 3 or 7)
DECONGESTANTS: Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) after 16 wks
CONSTIPATION: FiberCon, Citrucel, Metamucil, Fiberall
INSOMNIA: Doxylamine (Unisom) 25 mg tablets (1 tablet at bedtime)
HEMORRHOIDS: Preparation H, Tucks, Witch Hazel
NAUSEA: Try small frequent meals. Ginger Ale, Vitamin B6, Doxylamine 25 mg tablets (1/2 tablet 30 minutes before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner. One tablet at bedtime.)
HEARTBURN, INDIGESTION: Maalox, Pepcid DO NOT USE: Pepto-Bismol
COLDS: Diphenhydramine (Benadryl), Acetaminophen (Tylenol or other)
COUGH: Robitussin
