About Johnson Mertz Appliance

Johnson Mertz Appliance dates back to the early 60's. Almost 50 years ago Johnson Appliance opened for business in Duluth's west-end as a appliance and TV store. The business became Johnson Mertz Appliance Inc. in 1978. At that time JMA was located at 57th and Grand ave in west Duluth MN. JMA moved to a 24000 sq ft building at Hwy 53 and Maple grove, across from Miller Hill Mall in 1980.

JMA is a family owned and operated business started by Richard and Lois Mertz and continued by Frank, Jonathan, Jennifer and Richie. All are residents of Duluth, MN. Johnson Mertz Quality Appliance store is presently located at 4258 Haines Rd, Duluth MN. The business has grown over the years to include FJS Distributors and Prime Appliance Factory Outlet. As a small business we currently employ 35 people.

At Johnson Mertz Appliance we sell and distribute a wide range of brand name major appliances. At JMA we pride ourself in our commitment to our customers and our employees. Over the past 30 years we have grown in spite of increased competition from the national big box stores. We have grown because we have always emphasized our customers first, We are proud to be part of the Duluth business community. Our business has prospered because the people of Duluth have supported local business like ours.
