Cosmetic Dentistry

Tooth Whitening: Bleaching is a procedure that brightens teeth that are discolored or
stained. Bleaching can be done completely in the dental office (chair side
bleaching) or we can dispense a system for you to use at home. It is not
uncommon for the teeth to become slightly sensitive following bleaching
treatments. Although the effects of bleaching may last for several years,
teeth can become stained again by beverages and foods such as coffee, tea
and berries. Consequently, periodic touch-up treatments may be necessary.

Veneers: Veneers are thin custom- made shells that are designed to cover the front
side of the teeth. Made of tooth-colored materials, veneers are used to
treat spaces between teeth and teeth that are permanently stained, poorly
shaped or slightly crooked. They may also cover teeth that are chipped or
worn. Veneers can be made from composite resins, acrylic material, or
porcelain.

Bonding: Bonding is a cosmetic procedure that can improve the appearance of teeth
that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them.
With bonding, tooth-colored materials are attached, or bonded to a tooth
surface. Bonding is also used to protect exposed tooth roots that result
from gum recession and to fill small cavities.

Enamel Shaping: Enamel shaping is a process of shaping, or contouring natural teeth to
improve their overall appearance. Shaping involves modifying the teeth by
removing or contouring enamel to create harmony and balance in the mouth.
No anesthesia is necessary as this is more conservative process. However
due to that it cannot solve all problems.

TMJ, Snoring & Sleep Apnea Therapy

Occlusal guards and/or anterior repositioning splints can be made for the treatment of TMD and or bruxism (habit of grinding or clenching the teeth). Bruxism or TMD can cause a multitude of symptoms such as headaches, sore jaws, frequent toothaches, facial pain, worn or fractured tooth enamel, loose teeth, earaches and insomnia. There are also appliances that can be fabricated to open the airways which can help treat sleep apnea and snoring.

Non-Surgical Peridontal Therapy & Maintenance

Periodontal disease (gum disease) is an infection that affects the tissues and bone that support the teeth. As the tissues are damaged, the sulcus develops into a pocket that is greater than 3mm. Generally, the more severe the disease, the greater the pocket depth and bone loss. The enlarged pockets allow harmful bacteria to grow, making it difficult to practice effective oral hygiene. This requires a special cleaning, called scaling and root planing and possibly delivery of a localized antibiotic. This procedure removes the plaque and tartar deposits on the tooth and root surfaces, helping gingival tissues to heal and the pockets to shrink. Left untreated, periodontal diseases may eventually lead to tooth loss s.

Non-Invasive Oral Cancer Screening

VELscope® is a revolutionary hand-held device that provides Dentists and Hygienists with an easy-to-use adjunctive mucosal examination system for the early detection of abnormal tissue. When used as an adjunctive aid in combination with traditional oral cancer examination procedures, VELscope facilitates the early discovery and visualization of mucosal abnormalities prior to surface exposure that may be, or may lead to oral cancer. Once suspect tissues have been detected, the only way a definitive diagnosis of oral cancer may be made is through biopsy.

Replacement of Missing Teeth

Implants: Many patients choose implants to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or to support a full set of dentures. Implants are cylinders that are surgically placed in to the jaw where they can function as an anchor for replacement teeth. A single tooth implant is a free standing unit that does not require any treatment to adjacent teeth. When several teeth are missing, implants can also be used as abutments for a bridge not requiring any support from natural tooth structure. They can also be used to improve retention with a complete denture.

Fixed Partial Denture (Bridge): A bridge is a restoration which replaces missing teeth. It requires the teeth to either side of the missing tooth or teeth to be crowned so that a pontic can be attached to the supporting teeth.

Removable Partial Denture: Removable partial dentures have replacement teeth attached to pink acrylic bases connected to a metal framework. They may attach to your natural teeth with metal clasps or to precision attachments that may be incorporated into crowns. They are able to replace several teeth on either side of the jaw when necessary.

Complete Dentures: A conventional full denture is made and placed in the patients mouth after the remaining teeth are removed and tissues have healed. An immediate denture can be inserted as soon as the remaining teeth are removed. A denture can also be fabricated using several implants for attachment which allows for a more secure fit. It is still important for patients to continue to have an annual exam for oral cancer screening as well as checking the fit of your denture.
