Going to Dr. Dawn

At Kids Smile the routine of coming to our offices is more like an errand than parents might recall from their youth. Our new home is designed for patient comfort as well as the rest of the family. Our equipment, computers, instruments and hygienic systems are among the latest products from leaders in the medical supply field.

Examine US!

When children come to Kids Smile they are being treated by a board certified pediatric dentist, trained in cavity prevention and transfer, formative care, jaw and muscle development and behavior management techniques. Beyond, that we are trained in caring.

• Q. What can I expect on my first visit?

You will come to our beautiful offices on the second floor of a brand new building. When you get inside it looks like any other doctor’s office with a waiting area and a reception station.

If you have never been here before we want to show you around. We will show you the tools we use to clean your teeth and help take care of your gums. We’ll even show you the most comfortable patent chairs that have almost as many adjustments as a spaceship.

Our favorite machine takes pictures on the inside and outside of teeth. Will show you that too, but most of all we would like to show you how we care.

• Q. What age should a child begin visiting the dentist?

The American Association of Pediatric Dentists (AAPC) states that the first dental visit should occur shortly after the first tooth erupts and no later than the child’s first birthday. Childhood oral care as offered by a pediatric dentist is the recommended primary treatment program for children through 18-years of age.

• Q. What about older children?

If your son or daughter has never seen the dentist this is a matter that should be addressed immediately. We would welcome your consideration and invite you to visit our offices right away. It is never too late to learn proper oral hygiene or address lingering problems.

• Q. How long has this practice been active?

Although Kids Smile opened in August 2006, Dr. Dawn Forbes, the founder has been practicing since 1997. Dr. Forbes is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Dentistry and Oral Surgery.

• Q. What do I need to do next?

Please call or email us now to make an appointment. Dr. Forbes is available to speak with you on the phone about any pre-visit concerns you may have! Please remember to bring copies of any pertinent records from your child’s primary care physician.

• Q. How do you handle insurance payments?

It is no secret that health insurance is challenging with different guidelines for almost every plan and paper work that can be consuming. However we do accept most major insurances. Our goal is to serve the patients needs as best we know how.
