Q: Do you accept my dental insurance?
A: As a service to you, we will file your insurance. On the date dental services are rendered, we will collect what our computer estimates you will owe after insurance pays. Our computer software stores a history of payments made by each insurance carrier on particular procedures. If your insurance pays more than the balance due, you may request a refund or carry a credit on your account for future work. If a balance remains, you will be billed accordingly. We are not a participating provider for any of the insurance companies.
Q: What payment options do you provide?
A: We accept cash, check, or credit/debit cards. We do accept payment from Care Credit.
Q: I am concerned about having x-rays. Is there an alternative to traditional x-rays?
A: Our office now uses digital radiographic imaging. This process exposes you to significantly less radiation than that of traditional x-rays. These x-rays are much higher resolution, showing greater detail. These x-rays are stored in our computer files and can be easily accessed for you and Dr. Southern to look at together.
Q: How can I have whiter teeth?
A: There are numerous products available in the marketplace to brighten your smile. However, before you purchase products in the store or online, it is important to understand what is causing your teeth to stain, to know the risks and the benefits to whitening your teeth. We offer our patients a custom tray and gel system, which is used at home for 4-6 weeks and refreshed as needed.
Q: Why should we fill "baby teeth"?
A: These teeth serve to guide and support the permanent teeth. If they are decayed too badly or lost too soon, there may be damage or crowding to the permanent teeth.
Q: I am a new patient. What can I expect at my first visit?
A: Your first visit will include a comprehensive exam and any necessary x-rays. Dr. Southern will address any concerns you have and will recommend treatment based on your dental needs. Sometimes your first visit will include scaling and polishing of your teeth by our hygienist.
