What is CEREC AC?

Our office is proud to offer the finest and most up to date technology in the industry today. The Cerec AC allows us to place a tooth colored ceramic restoration in a single visit!

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. The new dental components belong to a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) instrument called CEREC AC. The instrument allows dentists to repair a damaged tooth in about one hour using tooth colored restorations or ?fillings.? Dentists no longer need to take impressions or create temporaries. And unlike the old procedure where patients made a second visit to insert the restoration, this procedure is done in one visit.

How does CEREC AC Work?

First, the dentist prepares the damaged tooth by painting a thin layer of reflective powder directly on the tooth?s surface. Using a special camera, the dentist then takes a picture of the tooth. No need to take a messy impression and send it to the lab. As the design of the restoration evolves on-screen, the dentist views it with a full 360 degree perspective.

Freeform editing in three-dimensional realism makes designing the restoration intuitive and precise. In the virtual world of CEREC AC, the dentist views, manipulates and verifies all aspects of restoration design for accuracy and assurance of an ideal fit. The material block is then placed in the milling chamber. Minutes later, milling is complete and the restoration is ready to place.
