Our Services
Radiology (X-rays)
Radiographs allow us to get to know your pet from the inside out! They are a routine diagnostic tool that provides us with valuable information about your pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, and colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate). They can be used to help the doctor identify and/or rule out any possible causes for your pet’s ailment.
As an x-ray beam passes through a patient’s body, the beams are absorbed in different quantities by different types of tissues. Images on radiographic film appear as various shades of gray and reflect the anatomy of the animal. Light areas such as bone absorb more x-rays then darker areas such as lungs. Interpretation of radiographs requires great skill on the part of the veterinarian.
We are equipped to perform x-rays on your pets. Some patients, depending on their discomfort level or cooperation, may require general anaesthesia. Each patient is assessed and the doctor will discuss any concerns prior to the procedure. The films are developed in clinic for timely diagnostics.
