Dr. Rupp and his staff have been promoting better health through quality dental care in Shallotte for over 20 years. We understand it is important to have an experienced and well-trained dentist and staff to educate and guide you through your treatment choices. Our combined dental experience is well over 170 years! We don’t get caught up in the latest fads and unproven procedures, but continue to pursue proven techniques to provide modern, high quality dentistry.
Dr. Greg Rupp – Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry
Dr. Rupp graduated from Northwestern University in 1985 with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery and has 25+ years of dental experience in Chicago, IL, Charlotte and Shallotte, NC. Dr. Rupp has practiced in Shallotte since 1989. Prior to entering dental school, he completed a BS degree in Business Administration at the University of Michigan with additional studies at Notre Dame University.
Continuing with his dental education, Dr. Rupp has since earned an advanced Fellow degree with the Academy of General Dentistry and is working toward his Master's degree. He is also a graduate of The Pankey Institute and Turbyfill Institute, both qualifying him in advanced cosmetic, occlusal and restorative dental services. He is an active member of the Academy of General Dentists, American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society.
Dr. Rupp lives in Ocean Isle Beach with his wife and two children. Their family also includes Sheba, a Labradoodle they have volunteered to train with Carolina Canines for Service. Once trained, Sheba will be donated as a Service Dog to a Mobility Disabled individual. In addition to spending most of his free time supporting his children's sports of surfing and soccer, Dr. Rupp loves to fish and enjoys cooking for family and friends.
Leslie Briggs – Certified Dental Assistant
Leslie is a certified Dental Assistant with a degree from Knoxville Dental Assistant School in 1980. She is married to John Briggs and lives in Lockwood Folly. Leslie has 17 years experience as a Dental Assistant and has been Dr. Rupp's primary assistant for the past 9 years.
Lorraine Friend – Certified Dental Assistant
Lorraine is a certified Dental Assistant with a degree from Delaware Valley Academy in 1979. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and has lived in North Carolina for 15 years. Lorraine lives in Shallotte and is married with one daughter. She loves to bike, walk on the beach , read her Bible and shop. Lorraine has 31 years experience as a Dental Assistant and works part-time as Dr. Rupp's secondary assistant.
Beverly Creech – Registered Dental Hygienist
Beverly is a licensed Hygienist (RDH) with a degree in Applied Science from Coastal Carolina Community College in 1994. She lives in Wilmington and is married with two children who are active in basketball and rhythmic gymnastics. Beverly has 21 years experience as a Dental Hygienist and has worked with Dr. Rupp for 17 years.
Michelle Sweeney – Registered Dental Hygienist
Michelle is a licensed Hygienist (RDH) with a degree in Applied Science from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. She has 15 years experience as a Dental Assistant and 7 years as a Hygienist working in New Jersey, Colorado and North Carolina. Michelle lives in Calabash with her husband, Brian and their dog Jazmin. She enjoys swimming, biking and simply just being with her family.
Valerie Balfour – Certified Dental Assistant – Appointment & Finance Coordinator
Valerie grew up in Queens, New York and received her technical degree in Dental Assisting from Mandal Dental School. She has 15 years experience as a Dental Assistant and another 15 years in dental practice management. Valerie moved to Sunset Beach after her parents retired there and met her husband, Andrew. Together they have two grown children and one grandchild. Her "down"time is spent working in her garden or boating on the intracoastal waterway.
Barbara Schmaler – Dental Hygiene Appointment Coordinator
Barb moved from New England to Brunswick County 20 years ago and has over 25 years in the health care industry. She has worked with Dr. Rupp for over 6 years. Barb lives in Shallotte with her husband and Labrador "Jake" and enjoys spending time with her family which includes two daughters who also live in the Carolinas.
