INFORMATION

What to do if you have an orthodontic emergency: Orthodontic emergencies may consist of a loose bracket, broken archwire, broken appliance or a wire poking beyond the last bracket and into your cheek, ouch! If any of these occur at any time please contact us at either the Franklin or Murphy office. If the office is closed you will get a message stating where to call. We will be happy to either give you instructions in taking care of the problem until your next visit or to arrange a time to meet to take care of it as soon as possible. If you are out of town when an emergency occurs you please call a local orthodontist who may be able to work you into the schedule for a small fee or as a courtesy.

YOUR INITIAL EXAM

We are happy to provide you or your family member with a complimentary exam during which we will examine for needed correction, best time to start treatment, if it is needed and will answer any questions you may have regarding the treatment. Following the exam you will spend time with our treatment coordinator where you may see a video about the braces, be given a short demonstration of how they work, be shown some payment options and will be able to make another appointment either for recall follow-up if the time is not right yet to begin treatment or to start treatment. It is strongly advised that a parent or guardian be present for minors during the initial exam. Starting treatment involves having some procedures such as x-rays, impressions of the teeth for study models and a series of intraoral and facial photographs. These are usually called "records" or "orthodontic records". After the records the patient will be moved to a chair in the main operatory for the installation of the braces and archwires as well as instruction in the care of the mouth and braces during treatment. It is advisable, also, that a parent be available during the instruction time after the braces are on.

PRIVACY POLICY

It is our policy to release dental records or personal information only for the purpose of referring the patient for a procedure at another dental or medical professional's office, in order to tranfer information to another orthodontist when the patient is moving or changing offices or for forensic purposes necessary for identification or to provide the previous condition of the person.
